Mercedes Car Maintenance

Mercedes-Benz recommends regular maintenance for their vehicles to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The frequency of maintenance depends on the model and year of the vehicle, but below are some general guidelines.

Depending on your car, driving habits and usage, you are either up for a Mercedes-Benz A-Service, or Mercedes-Benz B-Service.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Service is typically priced under $200 and will include a basic oil change and basic inspection.

The B-Service, which is the second and one of the most important, can cost anywhere from $400 plus, but this service includes everything in Service A but is the major maintenance inspection service for your Mercedes. The Mercedes B-Service will thoroughly inspect:

  • transmission

  • brakes and brake fluid

  • spark plugs

  • suspension and more

This service is extremely important for your car and choosing the right certified Mercedes mechanic to do this is an even greater responsibility!

Service A

The first service is usually performed at 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. After that, it's usually performed every 20,000 miles or 2 years. Service A includes an oil and filter change, and an inspection of the fluid levels, tire inflation, and brake components.

Service B

This service is usually performed at 20,000 miles or 2 years after the first check-up. It includes an oil and filter change, fluid and tire checks, brake inspections and brake fluid changes, and a cabin filter replacement.

Some Mercedes models may also need an intermediate service every two years or after a certain mileage mark, usually between 20,000 and 30,000 miles.

You can consult your vehicle's maintenance manual or onboard computer system to determine when specific services are due. You can also consider factors like driving habits, environmental conditions, and the age of the vehicle.

Maintaining your Mercedes-Benz car will make all the difference to lifespan of the car. Uncared for cars are more likely to have problems that can mean replacement parts are more common.

Treat your care well, like you take care of your body! Putting quality substances in will mean getting the best year out. We are what we eat, just like your car runs when you look after it.

Take care!

Vocabulary builder:

Tire inflation (n) = pressure can be technically explained as the amount of air inside a tire recommended by a vehicle manufacturer. This inflation pressure or air pressure is measured by PSI or pounds per square inch, using a tire pressure gauge.
