Harmony and World Peace

Past experience has shown us that authoritarian leadership isn’t fair. It belittles the population into succumbing to having limited power and a need to abide by leadership parameters.

Compared to democracy it doesn’t provide choice. However, some totalitarian groundbreakers have a way of getting the crowds to support what others see as maniacal interests.

Some have a way of convincing followers to act untoward and steer others along the same road into compulsive need to terrorize those who have different views.

Then there are those who choose democracy over communism, but are far-right wing or extreme socialist movements. Nowadays there has been several extremists that tend to go for dictatorship or fascism style leadership.

The main difference between fascism and dictatorship is that fascism is a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism and militarism, while dictatorship is a form of government where the leader of the country possesses absolute power.

Russia under Putin "is clearly a closed and repressive dictatorship," said Sheri Berman, a professor of political science at Columbia University's Barnard College who studies populism and fascism. "But there are lots of different kinds of dictatorships, of which fascist...is just one."

Other world leaders can be labeled differently. From the twentieth century dictators, Benito Mussolini was a pioneer who created fascism, a movement that would plunge most of Europe into darkness. From undermining judges to indoctrinating children, he pioneered key tactics that other dictators would use to seize power.

Hitler needs no introduction as he was responsible for World-War-II and the killing of millions. Mao Tsé-Tung, the Communist leader of China who governed from 1949 to 1976 had over 45 million of his own people killed. Even the Soviet Unions Joseph Stalin is responsible for 20 million deaths from 1932 until 1939. In total, probably over 60 million were killed between 1917 to 1987 by their Communist party.

Harmony and world peace is a target everyone should wish for. However, no nation can say that their way of living is perfect. Leaders need to use self-control to empower countries political systems to find peaceful solutions instead of provoking aggressive formulas and domination techniques for their own interest.

Even if they are for the good of a nation, there has to be order, working within the law, and respecting democratic policies.

Take care!

Prof. Carl Boniface
