Whizz kids and any tech savvy nerd will have you believe the latest technology is a must have. However, there are those sceptics who prefer to stick with already tried and tested products that work, even if they don’t have all the features of the latest fad.
Late 2024 is poised to witness the arrival of the first rollable phone, marking the inception of a new category of devices with unique shapes and possibilities. Companies like Vivo and Transsion are at the forefront, with official launches expected by the year-end, paving the way for other manufacturers to follow suit in 2025 like Samsung (see video), Oppo, Motorola, etc.
The Motorola rollable phone concept has a display that wraps around the bottom of the phone. That rolled-up screen can then automatically extend outwards to create a bigger display, or roll away and provide a handy second screen.
Double-pressing a button on the side unrolls the phone, with the display extending beyond the top edge to create a larger 16:9 display. Double press again and it gently slides its way back in.
Certain apps will trigger the transformation automatically: If you're watching a YouTube video and turn the phone into a horizontal position, as the YouTube app automatically flips orientation, the display will also extend outwards, providing a bigger surface to immerse you more in your content of choice.
Using common sense, one may come to the conclusion that until these items are thoroughly tested it’s better to use what you are already used to, saving possible frustration and an anti-climax experience.
And of course, money in the bank for growth will give one security and a real feeling of wealth, instead of blowing hard-earned cash on gadgets here today, and gone tomorrow!
Wisdom knows no bounds – use it wisely and become rich!
Take care!
