The words “Something Incredible” bring aspirations alive when you think about it, like right now. It is incredible that I am alive and in the middle of my journey.

A new student of mine asked me to tell her something about me. It’s a strange one, as an English teacher I usually ask the questions. She caught me off-guard, so I told her bluntly. Actually, my students are encouraged to speak, as that helps them build their confidence level. However, she had a point, so this blog is dedicated to her this week.

I’m an extremely lucky person. I wasn’t born that way, but rather aspired to having this gift. In my opinion, luck is something you earn which is contrary to how most people think of it. Most accredit luck to pot chance. However, to me, the more you put in the more get out.

In other words, nothing is by chance unless you believe it. We are what we make of life. Efforts to build our ship, are what is going to keep us afloat. Keeping our ship in order will contribute, so if we don’t take care the ship will get old and decrepit, and possibly sink. This is the way I have concluded my theory.

Consequently, I have aimed for perfection. It doesn’t come, but I use the theory that by plodding away step by step whilst making a constructive effort then everything is achievable. It isn’t, but then it’s a mindset that constructs a solid foundation. Total belief in oneself is the way to help others.

By helping others aspire to greatness, a feeling of self-accomplishment fills your entire being. It’s nice to know you are a contributor, a person that is open minded, and focused to achieve.

Life is good when you know how to construct it, chipping away bit by bit until you carve a sculpture. That sculpture is a direct reflection of you!

Take care!

Vocabulary builder:

Aspirations (n) = ambitions, goals, aims, targets, hopes, desires

Pot chance (UK) = pure luck which is similar to express pot odds. In poker, pot odds refer to the ratio between the current size of the pot and the amount of money you need to call a bet to stay in the hand. It's a crucial concept for making informed decisions about whether to call a bet, especially when you're drawing to improve your hand.

Decrepit (adj) = dilapidated, crumbling, decaying, broken-down, battered

Chipping away (phrasal verb) = to chip is to carve something i.e., design something, so chipping away is carving a piece of wood to make a sculpture. As the sculpturer you get to decide on what you are designing.
