Slap-up Meal

Everyone enjoys a slap-up meal out on the town. It my case it was an event which occurred regularly on family birthdays when growing up. My parents weren’t extravagant spenders, and didn’t order a massive variety of plates. Nevertheless, my parents, brothers, and I left the restaurants always feeling bloated (stuffed). Slap-up meals are a real treat!

A slap-up meal is especially large and good: usually the stuff you don’t have at home on a regular basis, if at all. We would usually go to local Greek or Italian restaurants, and stick to their famous cuisine of moussaka or spaghetti bolognaise.

Moussaka is a traditional Greek eggplant casserole made with baked or pan-fried eggplants (aubergines) and potatoes, a rich, tomatoey beef or lamb mince sauce and topped off with a deliciously creamy bechamel sauce. In other words, the ultimate comfort food.

A slap-up quadruple decker cheeseburger is also a good junk food option if you really fancy it with French fries (chips), and a chocolate or strawberry milkshake to help you wash it down. Whatever you fantasize about, if anything, then why not make it a special event to fulfill your dream. Go with your friends, family, or work colleagues, and make it a special occasion.

Mexican food might be a great option to try out if you have never had it before. Mexican restaurants are popping up in many places around the world. Either that or a rodizio of meat and salad like the famous Brazilian ‘Churrascarias’ which serve continuously while you are there. In fact, if you could handle it, you could stay as long as you like eating until you explode, chuckle!

One of the main reasons why Mexican food is so appealing is that it is a fusion of diverse cultures. Its particular combination of spices, flavors, and brilliant colours makes for an eye-catching appearance. Many classic Mexican foods retain their deep, pre-Hispanic roots, making them distinctive.

Brazilian churrascarias provide a fine selection of salad options which often include Japanese cuisine. Some people prefer just the buffet, as they are vegan or vegetarian, but at the same time offer a wide-range of tasty food for all.

If you are a meat eater then you can get a wide-variety from sausages, to chicken, steaks of beef or pork, and they may also offer rotisserie chicken and a variety of other culinary dishes such as lamb shanks.

The method used to prepare, tenderize, and season the meat while placing on skewers that turn slowly on special racks of designed metal rotisserie grills; reminds me of the way spit boys worked in kitchens from the time that Henry VIII held banquets for hundreds of guests in 16th century England.

Have a wonderful day!
