Mind Over Matter

Mind over matter is used to describe a situation in which someone is able to control a physical condition, problem, etc., by using the mind. For example, his ability to keep going even when he is tired is a simple question of mind over matter.

Having the ability to control our mind over matter makes us stronger. Tasks present different levels of commitment. If we are hesitant then it stands to reason those challenges are obstacles that perhaps intimidate us. They might take effort to accomplish because they are difficult or they may be beyond our scope, or frightening tasks like having to jump into freezing water. Apart from facing the responsibility of an obligation our psychology could hold us back from performing them. Risk is an element!


Making the effort to overcome them could initially seem surreal and breaks daily protocol. Using our mind over matter then not only makes us mindfully stronger, but it becomes an attitude trait that makes us take on any challenge at ease. Considering life’s principal hurdles are almost daily events we need to focus on such a powerful ability that fulfills needs.

The elderly pass on values picked up during their life, so such a tip to use mind over matter helps us prepare boldness to take on the world in our pursuits. Coupled to our studies, picked up knowledge, and experience of life enhances our future prospects.


There are several things we can do to boost mind over matter. Here are a few to chew over. If you have any other suggestions then please let me know:

  • Meditate

  • Deep Breathing

  • Visualize

  • Set an Intention

  • Talk to Yourself

  • Change Habits

  • Remove Temptations

  • Practice Self-Affirmation

  • Exercise

Mind over matter stimulates simple daily chores around the house like making the bed while it encourages other efforts like simply getting out of bed which for some is hard. Then there is regular meditation, and study to become more knowledgeable, or going to the gym, taking cold showers, or avoiding eating crap, and a long list of tasks that either need to be done to create a high-quality lifestyle, or if not used the alternative is to be lazy and don’t care!


What seems obvious to one might not be the same for another. However, there is no doubt that there are many ways to improve lifelong goals and mind over matter paves the way whilst embellishing future expectations.

"We widened the scope of our investigation" or the opportunity or possibility to do or deal with something. "The scope for major change is always limited by political realities"

Surreal (adj) = strange, weird, odd, unreal, dreamlike

Boldness (n) = 1. willingness to take risks and act innovatively; confidence or courage. “The boldness and independence that characterized his leadership.” 2. the quality of having a strong, vivid, or clear appearance.

Enhance (v) = improve, augment, boosts, develops, enriches, intensify, increase, or further improve the quality, value, or extent of. "His refusal does nothing to enhance his reputation."

Crap (adj) = extremely poor quality. In British, talk at length in a foolish or boring way. CRAP foods is an acronym for foods that not only contain empty calories but also contain ingredients that rob your body of essential nutrients. Empty Calories are not zero calorie foods, they generally contain a lot of calories but provide no nutrients for the body.
