One area for improvement is letter writing. It is an ongoing issue for English students. Today's blog for intermediate to advanced level English language disciples has been written to help improve results.

Comprehension is key to good communication, and therefore a few new words and explanations have been included. The below email is in response to a new project agreed upon whereby a signed agreement is about to be forwarded.

Incidentally, John and, Martin who wrote the following letter have known each others for several years:

Morning John,

Good to hear from you!

I've read over the contract and it seems fine.

I'll get my team to print it today, and the signed copy will be forwarded tomorrow.

Meanwhile, if you want us to 'get cracking' you can forward any pertinent information.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays we've got more free time 'to sweep' potential building sites, and having the exact requirements will enhance outcome. But of course, that's up to you 😂

Meanwhile, if you can get the info over ASAP, I will reach out to my contacts and get the ball rolling.

Thank you for your preference.

Have a fantastic week!

All the best,

Martin Peters ICC

Letter writting is an art that requires practice. My suggestion is to try writing for yourself. If you don't have a teacher, and you would appreciate some feedback them my I suggest you write a letter in the comment section below, and I'll have a look over it, and correct if as necessary. No cost. I'll do it to help out.

Take care!

Vocabulary builder:

Disciple (n) = a personal follower of Jesus during his life, especially one of the twelve Apostles. However, plurally it can also be used for those who are followers or students of a teacher, leader, or philosopher, or subject matter.

Pertinent meaning: relevant or applicable to a particular matter.

Get cracking = act quickly and energetically.

To sweep potential suppliers means to not waste any time and do the round to pinpoint those who are going to be more helpful and forthcoming. Informally, sweep also means "to win every contest," like when your favorite team sweeps the World Series. This usage comes from an older meaning, "winning all hands in a card game." British English!

ASAP abbreviation for 'As Soon As Possible'.

ICC = The International Code Council is the largest international association of building safety professionals. The Code Council is the trusted source of model codes and standards that establish the baseline for building safety globally and create a level playing field for builders and manufacturers.
