“Oh no!” That has to be a first, I thought. Coffee was everywhere! I’d forgotten to place a metal carafe under the spouts. What a foolish mistake that left me feeling rather ashamed of myself!
Having woken up just fifteen minutes before my morning swim had meant not making my morning ritual of express coffee. However, after swimming over a kilometer and showering I was desperate to get some caffeine inside me.
In our home we are fortunate to have both Nespresso and DeLonghi espresso machines. Coffee capsules are a pretty costly option, especially as I drink a lot of coffee during the day. Sometimes, a flask of filter coffee is made, but on this occasion, I opted for an espresso from my De'Longhi Italian designed machine.
For those who didn’t know, the Italian manufacturer purchased the English firm, Kenwood electrical appliances in 2001 for £45.9 million (about $66.7 million). Nowadays, most of their kitchen machines, food and drink processors, blenders, juicers, kettles, toasters, and coffee makers are made in their Chinese manufacturing plant.
Classic mistakes like misplaced keys or locking oneself out of their home without a copy of the keys or getting locked out of the car when parked occurs every day. Knocking a glass of water or coffee over a computer keyboard is as clumsy as it gets, but it happens. Slipups are normal in today’s society, and we’ve all made them.
Although accidents occur, without hesitation I cleaned up the mess all over and under the machine and on the granite sink top surface. For some reason the replacement coffee made all the difference, as not only did the coffee taste good, but it also encouraged me to write about the fumbling mess I’d got myself into.
On a more positive note, I’ve found staying organized helps tremendously when it comes to avoiding losses. Always keep important items in specific places, so as to remember easily. This small tip will make all the difference to avoid misplacing things which can be very irritating when time is of the essence. I’m yet to discover how to control blunders like spilling the coffee!
